Mammoplasty Procedures Performed By Florida Plastic Surgeons

By

There are various types of plastic surgery to help augment, reduce or reshape the beasts, all which are performed by specialized Florida plastic surgeons.

The female breast is considered to be a symbol of femininity, sex appeal and womanhood in many cultures. Enhancing the breasts for cosmetic reasons is very common, but equally important is the ability of Florida plastic surgeons to provide breast augmentation and reshaping for women that have undergone mastectomies, breast surgeries, or because of breasts that are asymmetrical or extremely large or small. Very large breasts are linked to back and neck pain and damage, shoulder damage and increased risk for diseases of the breast.

Mammoplasty is a general term to include all types of breast surgery for all reasons. The most common types of mammoplasty are breast augmentations which increase the size of the breast. This can be done because the breasts are very small and underdeveloped or it may be a purely cosmetic or aesthetic decision by the woman. Florida plastics surgeons can perform breast augmentations for cosmetic reasons only after consulting with the woman and understanding her desires with regards to changes in breast size. Women that want to increase their breast size dramatically typically will not find experienced, highly reputable surgeons to complete the procedure. This is because the implants, usually silicon or saline, can cause increased problems if they are atypically large for the women's body size.

Small changes to the breasts, including making asymmetrical breasts more symmetrical, may be completed by Florida plastic surgeons using a fat grafting technique. This allows the surgeon to move fatty tissue from other areas of the body, often the buttocks, to the breast area to reshape and balance the size of the breasts. This procedure eliminates the need for implants, which will need to be replaced at specific intervals based on the implant type and material used.

A breast reduction is known as a reduction mammoplasty and is a surgical procedure that removes both skin and underlying tissue and reshapes the breast. This can be done for both health and aesthetic purposes. As with implants, it is essential to work with Florida plastic surgeons that have experience in breast surgical procedures. New techniques are now possible to limit the surgical scars from breast reductions and augmentations and to also minimize any risk of post-surgical complications. Women will need to closely follow the recommended post procedure care including limiting exercise and care of the incision area to prevent infections and possible damage to the incision site.

Men may also benefit from a breast reduction procedure performed by qualified Florida plastic surgeons. Men taking specific medications, with genetic factors, excessive weight gain or loss, or those with hormonal imbalances may develop a condition known as gynecomastia. This results in the development of moderate to large breasts on a man, which can impact on the individual's sense of self-confidence and self-image. Surgeons can remove the excess tissue and fat that causes the development of the beasts, resulting in a flatter chest that is more masculine in appearance.

Breast lifts are popular with women, particularly women over the age of 40 or women with larger breast sizes that have more fatty tissue in the breasts. This procedure can reverse the sagging that is common as women age, resulting in firmer, more shapely breasts. The medical term for this condition is mastopexy and it can be completed after weight loss, pregnancy or when genetic factors cause the breasts to sag lower on the chest.

Speaking with Florida plastic surgeons regarding any possible work you are considering to improve the shape, size or symmetry of your breasts is important. Interview at least three different plastic surgeons and choose the individual you find to be most experienced and understanding of what you want from the procedure.
